Over the past year, I’ve been gradually phasing out toxic products from my home. From dish soap to toilet paper, I’ve done a lot of research and made small changes to create a healthier environment for my family. After discovering the Yuka app, I turned my focus to beauty products, and that’s where things got a bit tricky.

Swapping out cleaning supplies was relatively easy as long as they worked. But beauty products? That’s a whole different challenge. It’s hard to find ones that are truly non-toxic, actually effective, and good for your skin.

So today, I’m sharing my top 5 non-toxic beauty products that not only work, they love your skin right back. I am not affiliated with these products; they are just products I trust and love.

  1. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer with Niacinamide

If you're looking for something to hydrate your skin that also contains great ingredients, this is for you. This moisturizer is extremely hydrating, and I wake up to fresh-looking skin every morning. This scored a 90/100 on the Yuka App.

  1. Neutrogena Mattifying Primer

This is a water-based primer with a 100/100 rating on the Yuka app. Unlike other primers I've tried, this one goes on smoothly and doesn't make my skin peel. It's light and works!

  1. Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation

My go-to foundation for years was IT Cosmetics. It covers extremely well, but it has a 0/100 rating containing several ingredients that are not only endocrine disruptors, but also potential carcinogens, and bad for the environment. I searched everywhere for a good full-coverage foundation and was thrilled to find this one finally. This makeup is rated 83/100 on the Yuka App. It makes my skin feel smooth, stays on all day, and is full coverage, similar to the IT Brand.

  1. Ulta Beauty Cloud Blurring Blush

I'm used to powder blush, so it took me a few tries to get used to this, but a little goes a long way. It comes in a lip gloss-type bottle, so I blot a very tiny bit on my cheekbone and dab it in with my fingertips. It's really pretty and gives a faint blushing look, which is what I am going for. This received a 76/100 rating on the Yuka App.

  2. Honest Beauty 2-1 Extreme Length Mascara

This has been my go-to for years. This mascara comes with a primer and really does lengthen your lashes. It comes off easily and doesn't smudge. This mascara has a 100/100 rating on the Yuka App.

Making the switch to non-toxic beauty doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Start small, pay attention to the ingredients, and find what works for you. These five products have been game-changers for me, not just because they’re cleaner, but because they actually perform. I hope this list gives you a great starting point on your own journey to a less toxic, more skin-loving routine.

If you’ve found any non-toxic beauty favorites, I’d love to hear about them. Drop them in the comments! Big shoutout to the team at Yuka for all the work you've done to make this information possible and easy to find!
