I find most of my grocery staples at our local Kroger store. I also shop at Thrive Market and our local farmer's markets when possible. Below are my top 10 grocery picks when choosing food to fuel our family.
#1 - Fresh Vegetables & Fruits
I opt for organic and try to get in season when possible. We eat lots of leafy greens, green beans, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, gold/red potatoes, and carrots. For fruit, we normally get blueberries, apples, bananas, strawberries, and sometimes oranges.

#2 - Meats
We purchase a 100% grass-fed cow from a local farm and I try to get any other meats from local farmers markets, but when I do get meat from Kroger, this is what I choose. I look for Organic meats where the animal was humanely raised and wild-caught fish that isn't farmed and doesn't have added colors.

#3 - Grass-Fed / Organic Dairy Products
I always read labels and opt for grass-fed and/or organic, where the animal was not treated with antibiotics or hormones.

#4 - Organic Pasture Raised Eggs
Lots of chickens are raised in horrible environments, given hormones to make them bigger and antibiotics because they are sick from being confined in cages. If you want to see the standards for any other eggs in your grocery store, check this website out. Below are the eggs we choose when we do not get them from a local source.
#5 - Organic Bone Broth
We use broths when cooking soups, rice, quinoa, pasta, and more. These are great because they are high in protein and a good source of collagen.
#6 - Pasta & Sauce
When choosing sauces, I look for simple ingredients that I can understand and ideally low sugar. For pasta noodles, I look for organic (at least non-GMO) options and make sure the ingredients are simple. The Jovial brand below is my favorite and they also have cassava pasta if you are not eating grains.

#7 - Nuts & Seeds
Lots of nuts and nut butters have added seed oils. Check the label to make sure the nut chosen is the only ingredient. For peanut butter, look for just peanuts (and maybe salt). Companies will add processed seed oils to help stabilize the peanut butter so the oil doesn't separate and cause it to settle at the top. It can be a hassle to stir the nut butter, but after one good stir, you should be good to go.
We choose a variety of nuts to add to salads or make a homemade trail mix to snack on throughout the week.

#8 - Baking
We are mostly gluten-free so we use almond and cassava flour in recipes from muffins to pizza dough, but I still have wheat flour on hand for homemade bread or recipes that call for it.
#9 - Snacks
For a long time, it was hard for me to find a good cracker alternative without a bunch of processed ingredients and seed oils, but I finally found Mary's. We use these to replace anything we would use crackers for previously.
#10 - Fun Items
Unreal chocolates - instead of peanut butter cups and other chocolate items, choose from the Unreal variety. We don't eat these daily, but I like to throw a few of the dark chocolate gems in my popcorn on movie nights or eat a peanut butter cup on Halloween.
Siete Tortilla Chips - I wish Kroger had an organic version without seed oils, but for now this is what we choose for when we have parties or need chips for dipping.
Just Cranberry Juice & Tart Cherry Juice - We add these to mocktails.
