You may have been hearing lately how great collagen is for you. Great for your hair, skin, nails, and joints. But what do we really know about this supplement?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. It is the main structural protein in the skin and other connective tissues. As we age, the production of collagen within our body naturally starts to decline. This normally starts to occur as early as your mid-twenties.

Since I am in my 20's I decided I needed to give this supplement a try. Reading up on how my collagen was decreasing and how I would be loosing skin elasticity at my current age, why wait? I researched the supplement and took precautions right away.
Within a month of taking collagen I noticed my hair was growing rapidly. After measuring, it was growing about an inch a month. I have taken Biotin and sugar bear hair supplements before and, in my opinion, it didn't compare to the growth I experienced with collagen.

The benefits didn't stop there.....
My nails became super strong. Being a weightlifter I can't ever keep nice polished nails. They break, I bite them, the polish chips, they are never pretty. On collagen all of my nails are not only super strong, but they were pretty! They weren't breaking when I lifted weights. I was super impressed.

Still, the benefits didn't stop there.....
I always have knee pain while working out. I've seen a few doctors and have gotten conflicting pieces of advice. I noticed that while taking collagen I hardly ever have knee pain. If I do get any pain after a heavy lift, it doesn't take long to go away.
On top of all of these things I have always struggled with my stomach. I've been to the doctor and been told I have IBS and / or potentially leaky gut. While taking collagen I haven't had stomach issues. My IBS is completely gone.

If that isn't enough to make you want to start taking collagen right away, research has also suggested that it helps with:
Glowing skin
A more youthful appearance
Joint health
Tendon & bone strength
Healthy cartilage
Increased athletic performance
Improved digestion
Gut health
Deeper sleep

Now that you are hyped to try this stuff, let me tell you how easy it is to take. My favorite way to take collagen is by adding a scoop to my morning coffee. It dissolves completely and I don't even taste it. I also add it to smoothies, pre-workouts, and even recipes. When I wake up in the morning I add it to whatever I am drinking. It gives me that boost of energy and starts my day with some protein, which is key to my weight lifting success.
